The current standard NIN 2020 chapter 7.10 points out
that the safety of patients and medical staff is the top priority in all medical

With a move to new premises and the expansion of the Eye clinic, a new chapter was started. This change was preceded by this change was preceded by a detailed analysis and risk assessment by the building owners and specialist planners. The aim of the expansion was also to upgrade the electrical power supply in the 3 Operating theaters in accordance with the current standard requirements.
Our solution
In collaboration with the specialist planning department, we developed a concept for the three operating theatres. Due to the planned treatment of future patients, it was important to create a Group 2 room*.
An IT network was set up for each operating theater for the medically used area. A CP915 operating unit was used for alarming, signaling and control. The lighting and ventilation in the room can be controlled centrally and the medical staff are supported with action texts in the event of faults during their daily work. Thanks to simple integration, our high-quality lighting solution, the Q-Flow™ 4i operating theater light, was also used. Efficient and powerful lighting is an important tool for patient care in operating theaters.
The Bern Eye Clinic benefited from a solution from a single source. It essentially consisted of:
- 3 x operating theater distribution boards, which ensure a safe electrical power supply.
- 3 x remote control units for the integration and control of external systems.
- 3 x CP915 operating units for central control in the operating room.
- 2 x operating theater lights for efficient and user-friendly control.
- Project planning, schematic creation and commissioning on site.
* Group 2 medically used area
- intracardiac procedures or
- vital treatment where an interruption (fault) in the power supply
