Optec - Kostenreduktion

Cost reduction in building technology

Identify the energy guzzlers

In most companies, the sharp rise in energy costs is always a hot topic. A first step towards reducing costs is the precise collection of all energy data using modern energy measurement technology. Because only when it is known where electricity is being consumed can concepts for reducing electricity costs be developed and measures implemented. Grid analyzers help to monitor and record the measures. The electricity bill provides an initial overview of energy consumption. This shows the energy costs for operating facilities, buildings or infrastructure objects. The costs of unreliable energy supply are often much higher. The effective utilization of the energy distribution systems and facilities as well as the reliable energy supply are summarized under the term "hidden costs" and have a major influence on the profitability of a company.

Savings potential from hidden costs

  • Reduce triple electricity costs: kWh, reactive power costs and peak load
  • Identify "energy guzzlers"
  • Reduce maintenance costs
  • Extend the service life of electronic and electrical devices
  • Precise cost center recording (e.g. how much electricity is needed for which office?)
  • Stabilize the power supply to avoid computer failures

Thanks to state-of-the-art energy management systems, evaluations can be produced within a very short time. This makes it possible to check the energy supplier's electricity bill and create customer-specific invoices more accurately and easily. These systems also make it possible to identify inefficient consumers and energy wasters. With the necessary network transparency, targeted countermeasures can be initiated.

To the network analyzer

Always informed

Overload of the power supply, brief interruption of the operating systems and impermissible harmonics. Grid analyzers are already integrated into the web servers. This enables direct access to the data of the individual measuring points. As soon as the set limit values are reached, all authorized employees are informed by e-mail or via the homepage.

To GridVis®

Dealing with the data

Data is constantly being collected. This data should be collected, stored, processed, visualized and made available. Topology views provide a quick overview of the entire energy distribution system. Each room can be displayed individually using the stored floor plans.

Limit crossings and input/output statuses can also be displayed. The graphical line recorder function enables the measured values to be displayed quickly online and historical data can be analyzed by archiving the data.

Our product recommendations

We recommend the UMG 509 to achieve the overriding goal of cost reduction. This future-oriented universal meter is an extremely fast and powerful network analyzer with the following features:

  • Acquisition of all electrical parameters through continuous sampling of 8 channels at 20 kHz per channel
  • Minimum and maximum values
  • Harmonics (up to the fortieth, per phase with direction detection)
  • Short-term interruption
  • Transients (> 50μs)
  • Inrush currents (> 20ms)
  • Modern communication architecture
  • Integrated web server

This universal measuring device is combined with the GridVis® software. GridVis® ensures the creation of an energy and power quality monitoring system for grid visualization and, above all, greater transparency within your grid.
