Grand Hotel Kronenhof Pontresina

Load management for "The Grande Dame"

Even from the outside, visitors can tell that the Hotel Kronenhof in Pontresina really is "The Grande Dame". A successful blend of history, culture, modern comfort and indescribable nature makes the hotel unique. The neo-baroque building is one of the most architecturally significant Alpine hotels of the 19th century. the hotel was extensively renovated in 2007. Since then, the listed building has been one of the best luxury and wellness hotels in the world.

During the renovation, the wellness area and the kitchen were also renovated. In this context, the desire arose to install a load management system. The aim was to control the various consumers individually. Among other things, the following were integrated into the load management system:

  • Bakery ovens
  • Salamanders
  • Combi steamers
  • Flexi pans
  • Dishwashers
  • Saunas
  • Steam baths
  • and many more

Our solution

A comprehensive load management concept was developed in collaboration with the electrical engineer. To begin with, the power of all the appliances was calculated. This then resulted in the power to be saved. The ROI was calculated in just a few steps.

By using the UMG 507 Ethernet and I/O modules, the load peaks could be reduced and energy costs saved.
